Repayment Mortgages

Repayment mortgages are probably the most well known and commonly known mortgages. They are sometimes heard of as a capital-and interest mortgage. They are the simplest of mortgages to understand in that your monthly payment requested by the lender, if paid in full each month for the term of your mortgage, will gradually pay off the amount you owe as well as paying the interest charged on the loan. So as long as you make all payments as required the mortgage will be fully paid off by the end of the mortgage term.

How do you know if a repayment, or capital and interest mortgage is for you?

They are a great mortgage for those who want to get their entire mortgage, capital and interest, paid off by the end of their mortgage term. Once the term is complete and if you have made all payments required, the loan is repaid and you own the property outright. Repayment mortgages are also popular because they allow homeowners to pay off everything that they owe and, unlike interest only mortgages, at the end of the term nothing is owed.

You usually pay off mostly interest in the early years and then gradually more of the capital debt. It may seem as if this is costing more but that's because unlike the other types of mortgages you're paying off the capital and not just the interest.

The only way to find the type of mortgage required is to ask questions and gain information. Where better to do it than on the internet where you can find a mortgage that suits your own personal needs. Alternatively, think up many different questions as you can and first ask those close to you, and get guidance. Or learn it yourself and research forums and question sites to gain the information you require, then you will find the right mortgage for you.
